Durango School District 9-R is the largest public school district in Southwest Colorado. Located in the scenic Animas, Florida, and La Plata river valleys, it's flanked by 14,000-foot mountain peaks to the north and sage-covered deserts to the south. Seven elementary schools, two middle schools, a charter school, and a high school provide 5,000 students a high quality education based on high performance standards. Its programs, staff, and students have been recognized throughout the state and nation.
